Fire Risk Assessments & Commercial Fire Extinguishers Peterborough

The background behind the people who keep your property and your people safe

Fire risk assessments and Installation and maintenance of commercial fire extinguishers across Peterborough and the surrounding areas. Ensuring you stay safe and compliant.

You can only be 100% assured of your compliance once your fire risk assessment has been professionally completed. We employ a dedicated fire risk assessment officer whose entire focus is assessing and documenting commercial fire risk in the Peterborough area.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states the requirements of a ‘Responsible Person’ to carry out a Fire risk assessment. This responsibility falls by default to a senior manager such as Managing Director, Head Teacher, or Business Owner. An assessment will consider the likelihood of fire, examining fire hazards, the likely consequence of a fire, and the measures currently in place or required in the event of an incident. The correct type and quantity of fire extinguishers on site naturally falls within this remit.

Fire risk assessment law applies in:

  • offices and shops
  • care homes and hospitals
  • community premises
  • pubs, clubs and restaurants
  • schools, colleges, universities and recreation centres
  • tents and marquees
  • hotels and hostels
  • factories, warehouses and industrial units.
  • bed and breakfast, guesthouse or self-catering property.
  • Flats and houses of multiple occupancy (HMO’S)

The Law is not applicable in people’s private homes.

What is included in the assessment?

  • Identification of the fire hazards within the premises
  • Identification of the risk of fire and the people who would be at risk in the event of an incident
  • Evaluation of the risks and consider the best ways to remove or reduce the risks. This includes the identification of  and warning systems, commercial fire extinguishers and fire blankets, and the removal or safe storage of hazardous substances. The assessment will consider escape routes and exits and how emergency services would be alerted. The needs of vulnerable people, including senior citizens, young children or those with disabilities must also be considered.
  • A record of your findings and preparation of an emergency plan. Providing information to employees and other site personnel and the provision of fire safety training for your staff.
  • Your fire risk assessment should be regularly reviewed and updated. It must take into consideration any changes to the premises themselves, plus staff and any other occupants
