The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states the requirements of a ‘Responsible Person’ to carry out a Fire risk assessment. This responsibility falls by default to a senior manager such as Managing Director, Head Teacher, or Business Owner. An assessment will consider the likelihood of fire, examining fire hazards, the likely consequence of a fire, and the measures currently in place or required in the event of an incident. The correct type and quantity of fire extinguishers on site naturally falls within this remit.
