The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that a ‘Responsible Person’ must carry out an assessment for fire risk. This responsibility falls to the Managing Director, Head Teacher, or Business Owner as they have been appointed by their respective organisation’s senior management team.
The order requires individuals with management responsibility to take action to protect lives from dangerous fires and rightly so.
The Law is not applicable in people’s private homes.
